Singapore is an island city which is referred to as ” Garden City”. There is the number of species of trees, green parks and sanctuaries. The topmost attraction of Singapore is “Garden by the Bay”. It is the world’s largest greenhouse, the Flower Dome. It is the nature’s park covering 101 hectares of reclaimed land in the heart of Singapore’s new downtown – Marina Bay. Its aim is to raise the quality of life by strengthening greenery and flora in the city.
Garden by the Bay is a huge, colourful and futuristic in the bay area of Singapore. The large variety of flora with comprehensive sustainability efforts to make eco-friendly Garden makes it unique in the world. There is great fun to see the Supertrees structures that offer to make impressive skywalk over the garden. The over-sized seashell shaped greenhouses recreate the chilly mountain climates. There are hundreds of trees and plants to discover. These Supertrees use photovoltaic cells that capture solar energy which used to lighten up them. These are also used as air exhaust for the conservatories.
The park consists of three mesmerizing waterfronts garden – Bay South Garden, Bay East Garden, Bay Central Garden.
Bay South Garden is the largest of the three gardens covering the area of 54 hectares. Its aim is to reveal the best of tropical horticulture and garden artistry.
The Bay Central Garden is covering the area of 15 hectares with 3 Km waterfront promenade. It links Bay South and Bay East Gardens. It allows the travellers a scenic walk stretching from the city centre to the east of Singapore.
The Bay East is covering the area of 32 hectares. It has 2 Km promenade frontage bordering the Marina Reservoir. It provides an unobstructed view of the city skyline to its visitors.
The conservatory complex at the Garden by the Bay consists two cooled conservatories – the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest.
The Flower Dome is the world’s largest columnless glasshouse. The large roof of the glasshouse stands without any interior support. Rainwater collects from the surface and circulates to the cooling system which is connected to the supertrees. It is a replication of mild, dry climate and featured plants found in the Mediterranean and the other semi-arid regions.
The Cloud Forest replicates the cool moist condition found in the tropical mountains regions. The Cloud Mountains, approachable by an elevator, and the visitors will be able to descend the mountain via a circular path of waterfall provides visitors with a refreshing cool air.
